This quote is a very long one, but I think it's important for you to know the story behind it. When she was young, my mom went through a very difficult time where she was hospitalized and forced to take an extremely strong medication. It was so strong that it made her so nauseous that she lost all control of her body and couldn't move or talk. She had to be completely supported by her family and husband in order to get through the day.
As a result of this, my mom became very dependent on and afraid of leaving the house and getting in a car. As she got older, she would only leave the house when we were with her and we would drive to places close by that she felt safe in. It was very hard for her to go out because if something bad happened while we were gone, there was nothing we could do.
After a while, however, my mom finally realized that she had to put herself back into situations where she could make mistakes and make bad decisions but still come out on top. She decided to take the initiative and go see her doctor about how she could manage her condition better in order for her not to be afraid and control everything she did. Her doctor said that in order for my mom to move forward in life, he needed to take away half of the medicine she took every day and then slowly add more over time until eventually they could get rid of all of it.
My mom agreed to this treatment plan but told him that he had better not give me any more medicine since I was also affected by it! Since then, my mom has been able to live independently without having to depend on anyone else every day.
